Ingredients:
6 chicken drumsticks
1 cup buttermilk (or 1 cup milk + 1 tbsp lemon juice or vinegar)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup breadcrumbs (or crushed cornflakes for extra crunch)
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional for spice)
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
Cooking spray or a little oil
👩🍳 Instructions:
- Marinate the Chicken:
In a bowl, mix buttermilk with a pinch of salt and pepper.
Add chicken drumsticks and coat well.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight for best flavor).
- Prepare the Coating:
In another bowl, combine flour, breadcrumbs, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, salt, and black pepper.
Mix well.
- Coat the Chicken:
Remove drumsticks from buttermilk and let excess drip off.
Roll each piece in the flour mixture, pressing gently to help the coating stick.
Optional: For extra crispiness, dip again in buttermilk and repeat coating.
- Preheat the Air Fryer:
Preheat to 375°F (190°C) for 3–5 minutes.
- Air Fry the Chicken:
Lightly spray chicken with oil or cooking spray.
Arrange drumsticks in a single layer (don’t overcrowd).
Air fry for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
- Serve Hot:
Let rest for 5 minutes, then serve with ketchup, honey mustard, or your favorite dipping sauce.
🍽 Tips:
Double coating = extra crunch!
For a KFC flavor twist, add ½ tsp each of dried thyme, oregano, and mustard powder to the flour mix.
You can use chicken thighs or wings too — just adjust cooking time slightly.
