Homemade Vanilla Custard Pudding

Ingredients

2 cups (500 ml) milk

3 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)

2 tablespoons cornstarch (for thickness)

2 egg yolks (optional for richness)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

A pinch of salt

1 tablespoon butter (optional, for creaminess)

Instructions

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients
    In a saucepan, whisk together sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
  2. Add Milk
    Gradually pour in the milk while whisking to dissolve the cornstarch mixture completely.
  3. Heat Gently
    Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until the mixture begins to thicken (about 5–7 minutes).
  4. Add Eggs (optional)
    If using egg yolks:

In a separate bowl, whisk the yolks.

Slowly add a few spoonfuls of the hot milk mixture to the yolks
