Ingredients:
4 cups sliced fresh peaches (peeled and pitted)
1 cup sugar
2 cups water
1 tbsp lemon juice (optional, for color retention)
Instructions:
- In a medium saucepan, combine the water and sugar. Heat over medium heat until the sugar completely dissolves, forming a light syrup.
- Add the peach slices to the syrup and simmer for 5–7 minutes, until they soften slightly.
- Stir in the lemon juice if using.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Transfer the peaches and syrup into sterilized jars or containers.
- Seal and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks, or process in a water bath canner for longer storage.
Serving Tip:
Enjoy chilled over ice cream, yogurt, pancakes, or use them in pies and cobblers for a sweet, fruity flavor.
