Recipe:
A comforting, hearty dish made with savory ground beef, creamy mashed potatoes, and melted cheese, finished with rich brown gravy.
Ingredients:
1 lb (450 g) ground beef
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 cup beef broth
2 tbsp flour (for thickening)
4 cups mashed potatoes (prepared)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 tbsp butter
Optional garnish: chopped parsley
Instructions:
- Cook the beef: In a skillet, brown the ground beef with onion and garlic until cooked through. Drain any excess fat.
- Add flavor: Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and flour. Cook for 1 minute. Gradually add beef broth and simmer until thickened.
- Layer: Spread the beef mixture into a baking dish. Top evenly with mashed potatoes, then sprinkle cheddar cheese on top.
- Bake: Place in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes, until the cheese is melted and golden brown.
- Serve: Slice and drizzle with extra gravy. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
Tip: Substitute the beef with ground lamb for a traditional shepherd’s pie flavor!
