Ingredients
For the Steak
500 g beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon grated ginger
Vegetables
1 green bell pepper, sliced
1 red bell pepper, sliced
1 yellow bell pepper (optional), sliced
1 medium onion, cut into chunks
Pepper Steak Sauce
(as shown in your image)
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
¼ cup beef broth or water
1 teaspoon cornstarch (for thickening)
Instructions
- Prepare the Beef
- Slice beef thinly against the grain.
- Toss with soy sauce, cornstarch, oil, garlic, and ginger.
- Let marinate for 10–15 minutes.
- Cook the Vegetables
- Heat a splash of oil in a large pan or wok.
- Add onions and stir-fry 1 minute.
- Add all bell peppers and cook until slightly softened but still crisp.
- Remove from the pan and set aside.
- Sear the Beef
- Add a bit more oil if needed.
- Sear beef on high heat until browned (about 2–3 minutes).
- Do not overcrowd the pan — cook in batches if necessary.
- Add the Sauce
- Return vegetables to the pan with the beef.
- Stir together oyster sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, black pepper, sesame oil, broth, and cornstarch slurry.
- Pour into the pan and stir until everything is coated and the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
- Serve
Garnish with sesame seeds or extra cracked black pepper.
Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
