Homemade Canned Peaches in Syrup

Ingredients:

4 cups sliced fresh peaches (peeled and pitted)

1 cup sugar

2 cups water

1 tbsp lemon juice (optional, for color retention)

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the water and sugar. Heat over medium heat until the sugar completely dissolves, forming a light syrup.
  2. Add the peach slices to the syrup and simmer for 5–7 minutes, until they soften slightly.
  3. Stir in the lemon juice if using.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  5. Transfer the peaches and syrup into sterilized jars or containers.
  6. Seal and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks, or process in a water bath canner for longer storage.

Serving Tip:
Enjoy chilled over ice cream, yogurt, pancakes, or use them in pies and cobblers for a sweet, fruity flavor.
