Ingredients:
2 lbs (1 kg) potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet)
4 tbsp unsalted butter (or more to taste)
½ cup warm cream or milk (optional, for extra smoothness)
Salt to taste
Pepper (optional)
Fresh herbs or roasted garlic (optional)

- Boil the potatoes
Peel and cut into chunks. Boil in salted water until tender, about 15–20 minutes. - Drain well
Remove all excess moisture — this is key for fluffy mash. - Mash with butter first
Add the butter while the potatoes are still hot. Mash until smooth and creamy. - Adjust texture
Only if needed, add a splash of warm cream (not water) until you reach your desired consistency. - Season and serve
Add salt, pepper, and any herbs you like. Serve hot with extra butter on top.
Chef’s Tip:
Warm your butter and cream slightly before adding — cold ingredients can make the mash gluey.
