Creamy Dessert in 5 Minutes

Ingredients

4 cups (1 liter) milk

1 cup sugar

4 tablespoons cornstarch (or cornflour)

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

A pinch of salt

Ground cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Mix the base
    In a saucepan (off the heat), combine milk, sugar, cornstarch, eggs, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until smooth with no lumps.
  2. Cook until thick
    Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir constantly. The mixture will gradually thicken — this takes about 5 minutes.
  3. Pour and smooth
    Once thick and creamy, remove from heat and pour the mixture into a glass dish or individual cups. Smooth the surface with a spatula.
  4. Sprinkle the topping
    Dust generously with ground cinnamon (or cocoa powder if preferred).
  5. Chill and serve
    Let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

✨ Tips

For extra creaminess, you can add 1 tablespoon of butter after cooking.

Substitute part of the milk with coconut milk for a tropical twist.

It’s delicious served plain or topped with caramel sauce.
